Rian Nichole Reed, MBA, NBCT, Ed.S., is a dynamic and results-oriented educational leader with a career defined by designing, securing funding for, and implementing large-scale, innovative programs that drive systemic change. Her work consistently focuses on creating equitable outcomes, building staff capacity, and forging powerful community partnerships.

Rian’s impact is most evident at the policy and systems level. As an Educator in the District of Columbia, she spearheaded a year-long advocacy strategy that directly resulted in the passage of Council Bill 25-0766. This landmark achievement secured $2.4 million in funding for six schools to build and pilot flexible scheduling programs. In the same role, she secured the OSSE Educator Wellness Grant to design and establish a comprehensive Educator Wellness Program, boosting retention and providing sustainable resources for over 60 staff members.
A hands-on innovator, Rian excels at turning vision into reality. She established the Elevate Academy by forging a key partnership with UDC and The Mission Continues, integrating a hydroponics system and community garden to create a robust middle-to-high school STEM feeder pattern. Her experience in scaling proven models is demonstrated by her coordination of the large-scale A.V.I.D. curriculum implementation for 1,040 students and 140 teachers.

Rian’s programmatic leadership includes designing a summer academic recovery program with four partners to integrate PBL and SEL. As an Instructional Coach, she directed a K-5 assessment framework and "Grow Your Own" Future Educator program, contributing to a 19% increase in students reading at or above grade level.

Her innovative work is consistently grounded in equity. Through fellowships with CityBridge Design, District Equity Vision, and SEAD, Rian has used human-centered design to launch SEL pilot solutions, conducted comprehensive cultural-responsiveness audits of the entire 9-12 Secondary English Curriculum, and designed new curricula aligned with the CASEL Framework to promote anti-racist, whole-child learning. Rian Reed is an educational innovator who not only conceives of transformative ideas but also executes the systemic, financial, and programmatic strategies necessary to bring them to life.

Rian's influence as an innovator extends to national-level thought leadership. She is a recognized voice on educational equity and has been an invited featured speaker at numerous conferences, including the National Partnership for Educational Access, the California Association for The Gifted Fall Institute, and Harvard University's Graduate School of Education. Her insights on project-based learning, flexible scheduling, and teacher diversity have been featured in prominent publications, including The Washington Post, The Atlantic, The Washington Informer, and The Georgetown Voice.

Currently, she happily serves within the Special Education Department at Largo High School + a PGCPS Strategic Innovation Fellow. She is looking forward to starting Law School at George Washington University Spring 2026.
